2024 Aston Martin DBX S spy shots and video: Aston Martin DBX S

Aston Martin was spotted testing a prototype of the new DBX, a performance range-topper.

The prototype features a new front mask with a vast open area under the grille. It also features huge carbon ceramic brake rotors.

The new variant is scheduled for 2023 and will likely be called the DBX S. Aston Martin's 5.2-liter V12 twin-turbo can deliver up to 760 hp in some applications, and if it is installed in the DBX, the crossover would be a worthy alternative to cars like the Lamborghini Urus and the upcoming Ferrari Prosangue. More likely, however, is a tuned-up V-8 engine. The engine sound is more reminiscent of a V-8 than a V-12.

Don't worry, V-12 fans. Aston Martin plans to put this larger engine in more models. Aston Martin is also testing a new Vantage with a V-12 engine.

More variants of the DBX are expected in the future. The crossover has only been in production for a year, but it is already at the top of the brand's sales charts. It now accounts for more than 50% of Aston Martin's sales.

Naturally, Aston Martin wants to launch more variants. In fact, CEO Tobias Moers has hinted that as many as five or six variants may be added, including new body styles. The first of these new DBX variants is expected to be a mild hybrid model with an inline 6-cylinder engine. This model is also in the testing phase and is expected to go on sale in 2022 as the 2023 model.

After the mild hybrid should come this DBX S and a plug-in hybrid model with a V8 engine. Beyond that, we may see an electric model, a new coupe-like body style, and a stretch seven-seater. Stay tuned.
