GMA T.50 going through tunnels sounds unreal.

The Gordon Murray Automotive T.50 was designed to emphasize driving experience over numbers. In one key area, it succeeds.

This video posted on Anytimespy's YouTube channel shows the T.50 driving through a tunnel on an Italian F1 owners tour with its inspiration, the McLaren F1. The T.50 sounds just unreal! The sound of the T.50 is unreal. The screams echoing off the tunnel walls are reminiscent of a V10 F1 racing car, and the McLaren F1 even sounds a bit tame by comparison.

The source of its incredible sound is a custom-built, naturally aspirated 3.9-liter V-12 developed by Cosworth. The absence of forced induction enhances the sound quality of this engine, which can rev to 12,100 rpm. It is also mated to a six-speed manual transmission.

The V-12 engine produces 654 hp and 344 lb-ft of torque, which may not be that impressive by modern supercar standards, but it is still enough to get the wheels churning at just 3,000 rpm. For comparison, the F1's BMW 6.1-liter V-12 engine produces 618 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque.

Only 125 T.50 supercars will be built, including 100 road cars like the one pictured here and 25 T.50 Niki Lauda circuit versions. Prices start at the equivalent of $3.26 million, but all production runs have been sold out.

Once the T.50 is homologated and in production, GMA will shift its focus to the non-hardcore T.33 supercar. One hundred units of this follow-up model were produced and have sold out despite its $1.8 million price tag. In a recent interview, GMA founder Gordon Murray said that an electric SUV is also in the works.
