2023 Dodge Charger King Daytona, the fifth Last Call model with 807 hp
The Dodge Charger and Challenger will disappear after the 2023 model year, and Dodge is celebrating with seven last-call models.
The fifth of these is the 2023 Dodge Charger King Daytona, which will join the Challenger Shakedown, Charger Super Bee, and the Challenger and Charger Scat Pack Swinger models. Dodge plans to unveil another last-call model on September 21 before displaying the seventh and final model at the 2022 SEMA Show beginning November 1.
King Daytona is a tribute to William "Big Willie" Robinson, a drag racer from the 1960s and 1970s who raced in a 1969 Dodge Charger named "King Daytona" and used the street He also used the car in his campaign against racing.
The modern King Daytona is based on the Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye, but the output of the supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine was increased by 10 hp to a total of 807 hp. Orange six-piston Brembo brake calipers help to contain the speed that the power produces.
The Special Edition also features a Go Mango exterior with satin black hood, spoiler, and graphics. Hood pins and 20-inch satin carbon warp speed wheels complete the exterior changes.
The interior features black Nappa leather/Alcantara seats and an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel. Orange contrast stitching on the seats, instrument panel, steering wheel, center console, and door panels round out the interior and exterior. Dodge also includes a Harman Kardon audio system, sunroof, and navigation.
Production will be limited to 300 units, with ordering information to be announced in the fall. In addition to the last-call models, all 2023 Charger and Challenger models will be marked to indicate that they are the last of their kind. This will vary from model to model, but all models will have a commemorative plaque under the hood that reads "Last Call," "Designed in Auburn Hills," and "Assembled in Brampton."
The retirement of the current Charger and Challenger will pave the way for an electric muscle car based on the Charger Daytona SRT concept, scheduled for release in 2024.
