Successor to the Dodge Charger to arrive in late 2024.

A few days after Dodge released the teaser photos, a prototype of Dodge's electric vehicle that will replace the Challenger and Charger muscle cars was spotted driving on I-75 in Michigan, near Sterantis North America headquarters.

Video of the prototype on the move was uploaded to Instagram by user hellrango_nic, showing the vehicle from behind only.

The video reveals details such as the wider rear tires and how the indicators flash.

The noise emitted by the prototype is drowned out by the noise of the tracked vehicle.

Dodge has confirmed that the car, whatever it is eventually called, will go on sale in late 2024, suggesting that it will appear as a 2025 model in the U.S.

Dodge has also stated that the car will run solely on battery power, although gas engines, especially a twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six version of the Sterantis known as the Hurricane, are rumored to be an option; don't expect a V-8; the Hurricane will have a V-6 engine, and the Sterantis will have a V-8 engine. Sterantis is in the process of phasing out the V-8 across all brands.

The car's design was previewed by the Charger Daytona SRT Concept presented in 2022. Like the concept, the prototype is a two-door, but a four-door body style is believed to be in the works. The lines of the prototype are similar to the concept. Details such as the Frazog logo seem to have made it to production.

The platform appears to be the STLA large design from Sterantis, and may be an EV-specific platform that could also be compatible with a gas engine.

Don't expect Dodge to introduce an EV with more than 1,000 hp; in a 2021 interview, Dodge chief Tim Kuniskis said the brand has the capability to launch a 1,200 hp EV, but there is too much wheelspin and Dodge already stated that it would not be faster than the cars it already offers.

The Charger Daytona SRT concept featured an all-wheel-drive powertrain that Dodge said could handle up to 800 hp and a "multi-speed" transmission that offered distinct shift points like an internal combustion car. It is unclear if all of these features will be included in the production version.
