Manthey Racing expands into wheel production

A new supplier of high-quality forged wheels made in Germany has been created.

Manthey Racing, a motorsports and engineering company and close partner of Porsche, has established a production facility for forged wheels.

The facility is located in Freudenstadt in Germany's Black Forest region and has the capacity to produce up to 6,000 wheels per year. The first prototype wheels were manufactured at this plant last summer.

Manthey is Porsche's most successful customer racing team, winning races and championships many times. This success has earned Manthey the right to compete as a Porsche factory team in the GT class of the World Endurance Championship, among others.

The company also develops its own parts for Porsche 911 racing cars. The company also develops parts for 911 road cars, some of which have been offered through Porsche dealers, including in the United States, since last year. It is not clear if the new wheels will be offered through Porsche dealers.

According to Martin Rader, managing director of Manthey-Racing, the decision to move into wheel production was to better meet customer demand and also to attract new customers to the brand. Previously, the company offered wheels developed and produced with BBS.

Manthey has not revealed the specifications of its forged wheels, but the wheels for the current 992-generation 911 GT3, developed with BBS, are 20 inches at the front and 21 inches at the rear, helping to reduce unsprung mass by 16 pounds compared to the standard set.
