Tesla Model S Plaid finally sports seats
Tesla's Model S Plaid comes equipped with front sport seats from the factory.
These sport seats are standard on the Model S Plaid and are currently priced starting at $93,380 including a $1,390 destination charge.
The electric super sedan was in dire need of a sport seat, especially for owners who enjoy circuit driving.
These seats have special bolstering to hold the body in place and suede trim for more grip. They also have heating and cooling, 12-way power adjustment, and a black plaid logo in the center, among other luxuries.
The new seats follow the addition of a track package launched last year. This package adds carbon ceramic brake rotors and a firmware update that allows for 200 mph. The package can also be further enhanced with tire and wheel upgrades, adding 20-inch forged aluminum wheels with Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R tires.
With the track package, the Model S Plaid was able to lap the Nürburgring race track in Germany in 7 minutes 25.231 seconds. This was the record for an electric car at the track, set in mid-2023, although faster times have since been set by the more powerful Porsche Taycan Turbo GT and Rimac's hypercar, the Nevera.
The Model S delivers a peak output of 1,020 hp produced by three motors (one in the front and two in the rear). This is enough for the Model S Plaid to sprint from a standstill to 60 mph in less than 2.0 seconds, run the quarter mile in 9.23 seconds, and reach a top speed of 200 mph.
Tesla has yet to announce whether the related Model X Plaid will also feature the new sport seats.
