Manthey Racing Upgrades for Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Arrive in the U.S.

Manthey-Racing continues to expand its offerings in the United States, this time with an upgrade for the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS.

Manthey is a German motorsports and engineering company with close ties to Porsche and has been selected in the past to oversee several of Porsche's racing programs.

More recently, the company has entered the game of offering upgrades to some of Porsche's road cars. In most cases, the upgrades were developed in conjunction with Porsche and are available in Porsche showrooms.

The upgrades for the 718 Cayman GT4 RS focus on aerodynamics and chassis components, and according to Manthey's own testing, the Nürburgring lap time for this already high-performance sports car was reduced by 6.179 seconds over stock to 7 minutes 03 seconds 121, a reduction of 6.179 seconds compared to normal. In both cases, the tires used were Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 Rs

. Key to the upgrade is a new coilover suspension with four adjustable spring struts and adjustable rebound and compression stages. Adjustments can be made without tools. The front suspension spring rate has also been increased by 20%.

In the area of aerodynamics, the car now has a wider rear wing with four adjustable stages, resulting in an increase in downforce from 196 pounds to 372 pounds of normal. Steel hoses were added to the brakes to ensure optimum braking power on the track. Brake pads suitable for circuit driving are also available.

With no changes to the powertrain, the 4.0-liter flat-six produces a maximum output of 493 hp, all of which is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The cost of the upgrade, excluding installation, is $53,946; for an additional $5,890, one can add newly designed front fender louvers and a large gurney flap with rear ducted tail spoiler, the latter increasing downforce by an additional 4%.

Prospective buyers can try out the upgrades before purchasing. Porsche Experience Centers in Atlanta and Los Angeles will offer driving programs with the upgraded 718 Cayman GT4 RS.

Manthey is also offering a similar upgrade for the 992-generation Porsche 911 GT3, which was launched in the U.S. last year.
