1969 Dodge Daytona for sale, seemingly untouched.

The Dodge Charger Daytona nameplate is making a comeback in 2025 on an electric car, but fans of the original and those willing to spare the money will soon be able to bid on one that looks like it just left the factory.

Mecum will be putting the hammer down on a numbers-matching 1969 Charger Daytona at an upcoming auction in Indianapolis.

The original Charger Daytona was developed as part of NASCAR's racing program, but never hit the market; only one year of production and only 503 built, a decent example today could fetch several hundred thousand dollars.

The most desirable version is powered by a 426 Hemi, while this car is powered by a 440 Magnum. While this engine does not have the legendary status of the Hemi, it still produces 375 hp, and is paired with a four-speed manual transmission to drive the rear wheels.

The car was sold new by Manzi Dodge of Lowell, Massachusetts, and a reproduction of its window sticker reveals an original sales price of $4,591 including a $69 destination charge.

An auction of the car by Mecum is scheduled for May 17. Estimates range from $375,000 to $425,000. For a similar amount, a company named ExoMod will transform a former Hellcat-equipped Dodge Challenger into something resembling a 1969 original.

Other highlights of the auction include a 1966 Shelby 427 Cobra, a 1968 Ford Shelby GT500KR, and a Lamborghini Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae Roadster.
