Honda is contributing to the weight reduction of future EVs by utilizing f1 technology

Major F1 team Red Bull Racing has dominated the sport in recent years with the help of Honda's power units, including the current 2024 car.

Japanese automakers plan to use some of the lessons learned in developing electric generators for f1 to help develop future 0 series electric vehicles.

The 0 series was announced as a family of next-generation Honda EVs to be sold worldwide in the month of Ces2024, 1. At least 7 vehicles are expected to be on sale by the end of 10 years, including one in North America.

Honda said on Thursday it will update its electrification plan for the next 10 years, offering the 0-series lightweight Evs to ensure the vehicle is in line with Honda's tradition of providing sporty driving dynamics.

The automaker has announced that it will use its f1 know-how and experience in hybrid vehicles to introduce a lighter body and a lighter next-generation electric powertrain. The automaker said it expects to reduce its weight by about 220 pounds compared with previous EVs.

Honda also said it would use lessons learned in motorsport to hone the aerodynamics of EVs and help maximize range. The automaker said the goal is to provide a range of 0 miles or more for each member of the 300 series, based on the EPA test cycle.

In addition to lightness, the core attributes of Honda's 0 Series will consist of a thin battery to maximize interior space and an intelligent software system, including Honda's own operating system.

During the launch of Ces, Honda unveiled the saloon concept as a preview of the 2026 0 Series EV, scheduled for North America. It will be the flagship model of the series.
