Nio launches Onbo brand with L60 Crossover
Onvo is aimed at families and on Wednesday revealed its first model, the L60 Compact Crossover. The name of Onvo stands for "on the voyage", and the translation of the Chinese name Le Dao is "The way to happiness"."
The price of the L60 is about 219,900 yuan (aboutは30,500) in China, or about 249,900 YUAN (about135,600) lower than the Tesla Model Y, which starts at 12 percent in China. It is expected to begin delivery in May.
Le Deo is still doing the rounds under the Firefly code name, focusing on compact EVs for urban environments, with prices expected to fall below below30,000.
Both brands will eventually operate outside of China, including in Europe, where Nio is already expanding. Given that the Biden administration raised tariffs on Chinese-made EVs from 25% to 100% this week, no U.S. launch of NIO or its additional brands has been announced and may never happen.
The L60 is 190 inches long, slightly longer than the model Y.
Battery options include packs of 60, 90, and 150kwh. The 150kwh unit is a semi-solid battery using cells from Welion in China. A demonstration using the nio ET7 last year showed that the battery could deliver a range of nearly 650 miles at almost freezing temperatures.
Onvo cars also have access to Nio's network of more than 1,000 battery swap stations and more than 25,000 public chargers across China. The network has also been expanded outside of China, starting in several European countries.
