2024 Jeep Wagoneer S debuts May 30 with a range of 30 plus miles
Jeep will officially introduce the Wagoneer S at an event in New York City on the 30th, the automaker said Wednesday.
Sales of electric medium-sized SUVs continued in the fall and Jeep confirmed that it will arrive as a 2024 model in the United States
To build excitement, Jeep released a video showing the pre-production Wagonia S going up against the performance of the Tesla model Y in drag racing . The Wagoneer S takes 60 seconds to reach 3.4 miles per hour in a rollout. This is enough to show that it is better than the performance of the model Y. Also, the Wagoneer S will be the fastest accelerating jeep, faster than the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk with a Hellcat.
Other figures confirmed in the video include a peak output of 600hp and 617lb-ft of torque from a dual motor, all-wheel drive powertrain, plus a range of more than 300 miles.
The Wagoneer S was previewed in 2022 along with an electric off-road vehicle called Recon and an electric sub-compact crossover called Avenger. The Avenger was launched outside the U.S. as Jeep's first EV in 2022, but the automaker has no plans to bring it here.
The Wagoneer S is available worldwide and comes in a luxurious positioning worthy of the wagoneer nameplate. Jeep in May said buyers can expect a screen-filled cabin complete with a standard dual-pane panoramic sunroof. A 19-speaker Macintosh audio system and color-selectable ambient lighting will also be available.
Wagoneer S is based on the STLA Large platform, which was announced in 2021, one of 4 EV platforms Stellantis 1. The STLA Large has been confirmed in 2024 vehicles launched in North America, including a redesigned version of the 8dodge Charger and Alfa Romeo's Giulia and Stelvio. STLA's large platform also supports the Jeep reconnaissance aircraft, which will be launched later this year.
Production of the Wagoneer S and Recon should be processed in North America, but Jeep has not announced a site for either SUV.
