2025Subaru WRX tS acquires STI Tuning Damper, Digital Gauge
Subaru, for reasons not clear, is not going to build a new generation of wrx STI. But automakers have not completely forgotten the demand for the WRX with a little extra pep.
Its latest product is the wrx tS, which will be launched early next year. The tS in the name means the car was "tuned by the STI," but it's not exactly the same level as the dedicated performance car in the Subaru go-fast division.
The main upgrade is the addition of a drive mode selector from the Wrx GT grade. Other upgrades include a Brembo brake package with a large rotor that combines a 6-piston caliper on the front and a 2-piston caliper on the rear, and a 19-inch wheel wrapped in a 245/35 size Bridgestone Potenza S007 tire, all of which have been upgraded from last year's WRX TR. It is taken from.
The exterior comes with a handful of "tS" badges and a side mirror cap, a roof-mounted antenna and a black accent on the rear spoiler. The gold-painted brake calipers are peeking out from behind the satin-grey wheels.
Inside, the WRX tS, like the front-up standard Recaro sports seats, the new 12.3-inch digital gauge clusters, various blue accents, and the adaptive Cruise Co WRX TR, the wrx's power sunroof has been removed and the weight and center of gravity of the curb has been reduced, making it ideal for those who want to wear a helmet. Additional headroom is provided.
The powertrain is the wrx's standard turbocharged 2.4-litre flat-4 with a peak of 271 horsepower. It fits all-wheel drive with torque vectoring and standard 6-speed manual. The CVT is available for the WRX, although Subaru has not said whether the transmission will be offered in the WRX tS.
The Wrx tS will officially debut at the Wicked Big Meet Subaru gathering scheduled for 6/2 at Stafford Motor Speedway in Connecticut. Prices will be announced closer to market.
