Midsize SUV “Lucid” teases price under $50,000
Lucid is already thinking beyond gravity.
On Tuesday, Lucid's Technology and Manufacturing Day, a teaser image of Lucid's midsize crossover SUV (now called the X) was posted on Twitter. Lucid said the midsize electric SUV will be available in late 2026 and will be priced under $50,000.
According to the company, this midsize EV will have “advanced technology and efficiency.” Lucid claims that it will have a range comparable to competitors with a smaller battery pack.
Teaser images reveal a crossover SUV that appears to be about the same size as the Tesla Model Y. Lucid CEO Peter Rawlinson has stated that the company's midsize vehicle will be like the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y.
Lucid has not teased a name for its next crossover SUV, but the company filed a trademark application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in January for the name Earth.
The midsize crossover SUV will have a silhouette and roofline similar to the Gravity SUV. The front features horizontal LED headlights and a full-width chrome trim piece with the word “LUCID”. The fenders feature strong curves and the mirrors are mounted on the fenders. Unlike the Gravity SUV, the mid-size crossover appears to have scallops on both sides of the hood, similar to the Air sedan.
Rawlinson states that the midsize vehicle will be the company's “big volume platform.” That probably means it will be less luxurious than the Gravity or the Air sedan.
In August, Lucid received another $1.5 billion cash infusion from Saudi Arabia.
Pre-production units of the Gravity SUV are rolling off the assembly line, set to begin customer deliveries later this year. Lucid has not announced when this midsize crossover will debut.
