McLaren 765LT recalled due to rear window falling out.
McLaren has issued a recall of its 765LT hardcore supercar due to a rear window that may come off.
The recall involves the 2021 model year 765LT coupe and affects a total of 163 vehicles in the U.S.
According to a recall notice (recall campaign number 24V901000) issued by the NHTSA on November 28, the adhesive bond is inadequate, which could cause the rear window to separate from the frame, especially when driven on a race track. The rear window may delaminate from the frame, especially when driven on a racetrack.
When a large object such as a rear window detaches and falls onto the road, it poses a significant hazard to other drivers.
McLaren states that it became aware of this problem after receiving numerous warranty claims of rear windows partially coming loose and, in rare cases, coming off completely. No accidents or injuries have been reported related to this problem.
McLaren dealers are required to install custom fasteners on each corner of the polycarbonate rear window.
McLaren began mailing owner notification letters on December 6, but for more information contact McLaren at 1-888-327-4236 or visit the manufacturer's recall page.
