The 2021 Cadillac Escalade ESV has been unveiled, and orders for the Escalade are open.
Cadillac continues production of the 2021 Escalade. General Motors unveiled the long-wheelbase Escalade ESV model on Thursday and opened order intake for all Escalade variants. Deliveries are expected to begin this fall.
Like previous generations, the ESV is a longer version of the short-wheelbase Escalade. While that model is based on the Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon, the ESV borrows suspension from the Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon XL. According to Cadillac, cargo space behind the first row is more than 142 cubic feet, an 18.1 percent increase over the previous generation and the best in class.
The styling differences between the ESV and standard Escalade are evident in the rear doors and rear side windows. The rear doors of the base Escalade have cutouts for the rear wheels that cut into them, while the ESV's rear doors are full-length; the ESV's rear side glass is also longer; the ESV's rear side glass is longer than that of the base Escalade.
Like the short-wheelbase Escalade shown in February, the ESV features a 38-inch curved OLED display consisting of three elements: A 7.2-inch touchscreen, a 14.2-inch digital instrument cluster, and the most 16.9-inch touchscreen controlling infotainment functions. Full equipment comes standard.
The latest version of the Super Cruise system is offered as an option for the ESV and short-wheelbase Escalade. A new sensor system allows for lane changes.
The ESV is expected to be equipped with the same engine as the short-wheelbase Escalade. Namely, a standard 6.2-liter gasoline V8 (420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque) and an optional 3.0-liter inline-six turbodiesel (277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque), both with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
On Thursday, Cadillac also launched an online tool for buying the Escalade. The online configurator offers a 360-degree view of the Escalade, and the Cadillac Live virtual showroom allows buyers to take a virtual tour of the SUV and speak with a Cadillac representative.
Pricing for the 2021 Escalade starts at $77,490 for the short-wheelbase model and $80,490 for the Escalade ESV (both prices include a $1,295 delivery charge). This is $1,000 more than the 2020 Escalade for both body styles.
