Brabham is gearing up to produce the BT62 supercar once the factory is completed.

It was in May 2018 that the legendary motorsports team Brabham's new automotive division unveiled its BT62 supercar to the world.

To mark two years since its unveiling, Brabham provided an update on Wednesday on the progress of its plans to begin deliveries of the BT62 in 2020.

Brabham has just completed construction of a 27,000-square-foot plant. The plant is located in Adelaide, Australia, where Brabham is based and where its parent company, Fusion Capital, uses it to produce buses.

Fusion Capital also has a division specializing in lightweight composites, where Brabham produces carbon fiber components for supercars.

Brabham has its own dedicated composites workshop in the factory, along with a 3D printing facility and a number of bays for hand manufacturing BT62. There is also an area where customers can engage with Brabham and customize the design of their cars, and the Bend Motorsport Park near the city of Adelaide, where Brabham cars are being developed.

The Brabham team continues to grow, with staff recruited from well-known teams such as Ferrari, Koenigsegg, Mercedes-AMG, and the Virgin Formula E team.

Brabham will produce just 70 units of the BT62 before moving on to future products Despite the small production run of the BT62, Brabham has already introduced three versions. One is a stripped-out version of the racing version called the BT62 Competition. The second is a standard track car called the BT62 Ultimate Track Car; the third is a public road-legal version called the BT62 Road Compliant Car.

The BT62 Competition is the closest thing to an actual race car. In fact, when Brabham competes in the World Endurance Championship, it is based on this racing car. Brabham aims to be on the grid in the new hypercar class for the 2022/2023 season. Some customer teams have already ordered BT62 Competitions to compete in the Dunlop Britcar Endurance Series.

In case you forgot, the BT62 weighs just 2,142 pounds (BT62 Ultimate Truck Car spec), yet produces 700 horsepower and 492 pound-feet of torque from a naturally aspirated 5.4-liter V-8, plus an aggressive aerodynamics package provides 2,645 pounds of downforce. In addition to this, the BT62 is equipped with some of the best motorsport components, including pushrod adjustable Ohlins dampers and coilover springs, Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, Michelin racing slick tires, and an adjustable traction control system. components.
