Preview 2022 Toyota MIRAI with Teammate driver assistance system.

Toyota has redesigned the Mirai for 2021 and added new features to its fuel cell electric sedan for 2022.

Toyota's Teammate driver assistance feature, which has been announced for the 2022 Lexus LS, will also be available on the Mirai.

Teammate is equivalent to Level 2 on the SAE automated driving capability scale, requiring a constantly attentive driver. Level 3 is the first stage where a car can drive without supervision, and Honda and Mercedes-Benz are already trying to offer such systems in Japan and Germany, respectively.

Teammate is available on the Mirai limited grade and brings two features: "Advanced Drive" and "Advanced Park.

Advanced Drive allows the driver to control the accelerator, brake, and steering on certain limited highways, change lanes, navigate certain interchanges and traffic jams, and pass slower vehicles.

Advanced Park can handle parallel street parking and backing into a parking spot. Again, all maneuvers are handled.

Toyota offers Teammate along with Safety Connect, Dynamic Navigation, and Destination Assist data services as a 10-year subscription to Mirai Limited. subscription brings the starting price to $72,195. The base Mirai starts at $50,525. Both include destination. All Mirai also come with $15,000 worth of hydrogen free of charge.

The Mirai is powered by a hydrogen fuel cell stack, which powers one electric motor on the rear axle. The vehicle is estimated to have a range of 402 miles when filled with hydrogen.
