Hyundai's compact sedan, the Elantra, is getting a facelift.
A prototype has been spotted, and its heavy camouflage gear points to major styling changes.
There appears to be a new fascia on both ends, a new grille shape, and slimmer headlights with daytime running lights that may form a band of light along the hood's leading edge. The taillight graphics also appear to be of a new design.
Shots of the cabin confirm that some changes will take place inside, although details are hard to discern. The infotainment screen and possibly the instrument cluster may also get a new design.
It is not clear what, if any, mechanical changes are planned. The front-wheel-drive Elantra powertrain lineup covers a wide range of performance, including a 139 hp fuel-efficient hybrid option as well as a 201 hp 1.6-liter turbo four and a 276 hp 2.0-liter turbo four in the Elantra N-Line and Elantra N N, although the N still offers both options.
The current Elantra, now in its seventh generation, was introduced for the 2021 model year. This updated version should appear in 2024, meaning it will likely debut later this year.
Production of the Elantra for the U.S. market takes place at Hyundai's plant in Montgomery, Alabama.
